Castiglione Intelvi
altitude 650 mts., 26 Kms. from Como

Castiglione Intelvi is a village located 650 meters above sea level.
The name comes from the presence in the past of an ancient feudal castle with a tower of which today only some ruins remain and the “La Torre” hotel, whose name refers to the past. It has a small historic center overlooked by small shops.
It is inhabited all year round and offers the most important services. It is about 6 km from the town of Argegno, on the shores of Lake Como, which can be reached by car in about 10 minutes and is connected to Como by public transport.
It is a town that is very often chosen to live in permanently, given that it is not very far from the lake and houses prices are more accessible than the towns facing Lake Como.
It is a sunny and quiet municipality, also a starting point for excursions to discover the splendid Intelvi Valley.

In Castiglione Intelvi was born Giovanni Buono, the first ever known to be one of the “Magistri Intelvesi”, technicians and artists that, from the XII century, travelled across Europe and became well-known for their monuments; in the valley is located the Appacuvi, an association that deals with the recovery and the restoration of artistic local works of the “Magistri”.
