What to do and what to see in Dizzasco Lake Como

Invasione degli Asini (Invasion of the Donkeys) is an outdoor contemporary art event that transforms Dizzasco into an open-air museum. This creative event fills the village streets with art installations depicting donkeys in various forms and interpretations, crafted by local and international artists. The artworks, placed along the most scenic streets and corners of the village, celebrate the donkey as a symbol of tradition and simplicity, reimagined in a modern and innovative style. Invasione degli Asini invites both visitors and residents to enjoy an immersive experience, where art and landscape blend together, showcasing the village and making it a unique destination for art. An event that should not be missed!

The Walk through the Valley of the Mills in Dizzasco is a captivating trail that leads visitors through a landscape rich in history and nature. The valley is named after the ancient mills once used for grinding grain, now silent witnesses of past rural life. The path winds through lush forests, small streams, and charming bridges, offering scenic views and a deep immersion into the peace of nature. Along the way, visitors can admire the stone mill ruins, some partially restored, and learn stories and curiosities about their use. The walk is suitable for everyone and offers a chance to rediscover the deep connection between the community and the land—perfect for a day of relaxation and exploration.

Hamlets of Dizzasco

Muronico is one of the larger hamlets of Dizzasco, situated on the hillside overlooking the valley and offering beautiful views of the surrounding landscape.  The hamlet is rich in traditional stone houses, narrow streets, and charming courtyards.  Muronico is home to the Church of Sant’Antonio Abate, a historic church that serves as a key landmark in the hamlet, with frescoes and architectural details that reflect the area’s artistic heritage. The hamlet is very quiet, ideal for those seeking an authentic and peaceful village experience.

Rovasco is a smaller hamlet that feels more remote, with lush, wooded surroundings and a more rustic ambiance. The dense forest nearby adds a secluded charm to this area.  Rovasco has fewer buildings compared to Muronico, and its homes and paths are simpler, blending harmoniously with the natural environment.  The village is perfect for those seeking tranquility and a deeper connection with nature, admiring forest animals such as deer, foxes and badgers, as well as large birds.

La Quiete” translates to “The Quiet” or “The Calm,” and it’s aptly named, as this area is known for its serene environment and panoramic views to the Valley. Località La Quiete is not as much a traditional hamlet with many buildings but rather a locality known for its peacefulness and beautiful scenery. It’s popular for scenic views and outdoor relaxation, attracting those who want a quiet escape.
