BASILICA DI SANT’ABBONDIO
The church of St. Abbondio was built by the third bishop of Como, St. Amanzio, with the title to the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul (Church Apostolorum); the building was located on Via Regia, an important road axis between Italy and central Europe, and in a cemetery area that became the traditional burial place of the Como bishops.
